160 VIETNAMESE FISHERMEN STRANDED IN SUBIC BAY DUE TO BAD WEATHER


SUBIC BAY FREEPORT- About 160 Vietnamese fishermen have sought refuge in Subic Bay due to the inclement weather in the West Philippine Sea, this Thuersday, local officials said.


Subic Bay Metropilitan Authority (SBMA) Chairman & Administrator Wilma T. Eisma and Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. immediately provide necessary assistance. 


Olongapo City Public Affair Office Chief Anthony Bayarong said the fishermen was in mid-sea yesterday when they are warned about the inclement weather. They were headed to the nearest land in Barangay Kalaklan to seek shelter and get some food. 


The Vietnamese Embassy in Manila has already asked the Department of Foreign Affairs, Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine Navy to assist the foreign fishermen. 

Philippine Navy, Philippine Coast Guard and Bureau of Customs are now assisting the fishermen.
